Just sort of smudgy out there now from the camera, and it basically looked like a normal (somewhat bright) night sky.
My eyeballs kept relaying a message that something confusing was going on. Nothing I could see, but kinda unsettling just the same.
From the way Jumpy Dog was acting tonight, she’s probably been having a similar experience.

@monospace When I tried self-hosting AFFiNE a few months ago, there were issues with both sync reliability and UI lag / latency.
I’m sure there’ve been improvements since, but it’s something to keep an eye out for.
I may try it again pretty soon myself!

Doing the info load thing for mental moving prep, comparing Tucson to other hot and dry places I have known.
It’s hotter and dryer than any of those.
UV Index is hmm lemme look that one up ok Tucson UV Index today and for at least the next ten days is “do not”
But it’s got better average air quality (and way better than what we’re getting today in King County WA)

@genehack We do, and when being my normal reclusive daystar-avoiding self, the car will be hiding in the garage.

@genehack basically the mental model I’m establishing is the hottest summer heatwave I ever remember it from southern Idaho, that’s a normal Spring day in Tucson.
hackers.town: 2024-05-11 Sat 13:11
@genehack emotionally preparing to be heat-sick a couple weeks after we arrive.
hackers.town: 2024-05-11 Sat 13:18
@genehack my visit to KS was not the highest temperature I’d ever experienced, but it was the most all-encompassing experience of heat thanks to that humidity. Sweat had nowhere to go.
So at least I won’t have to worry about that.
hackers.town: 2024-05-11 Sat 13:21
@genehack that absolutely qualifies for Unreasonably Warm.
Oh actual question, how frequent of an occurrence were indoor scorpions?
hackers.town: 2024-05-11 Sat 13:28
@genehack Ah lovely. I remember the core black widow rule: don’t go flailing around blindly in the plumbing and dark corners.
Palmetto bugs will be a new one for me.

@lordbowlich @genehack this is all kinds of exciting! I couldn’t get a more “not like the Puget Sound” environment if I asked an LLM to plagiarize one for me.
hackers.town: 2024-05-11 Sat 13:46
@lordbowlich @genehack we’re in late Spring now, where it’s on the upswing of our local bipolar weather cycle. I even got to see the aurora last night!
Course, by the end of September the other side of the bipolar weather shows up yeah. And I won’t miss that.

Putting my #Logseq graph through sufficient churn that I need to re-index multiple times per hour.
Looking forward to whenever the database-backed version of the app is released. Looking forward with some trepidation, given the impact of big feature additions. But still.
hackers.town: 2024-05-11 Sat 16:15
@VE2UWY Yep that’s one of my concerns for sure. Guess I’ll find how that works out!

Response to a LinkedIn job application.
“Thank you for your interest in the X position at Y. We will keep you in mind for all similar future openings.”
Ok that’s not specifically a no, but it doesn’t sound like a yes.
“Interested in revamping your resume? Visit URI at Y’s site”
uh
Link is to their paid service offering multiple payment / service tiers
With the noncommittal nature of the relevant content and the unsolicited promotion taking up 1/4 of the verbiage
this seems slightly
hinky?

probably should have quit logseq before changing two hundred pages in less than one second
