@IngaLovinde I’ve gotten a few “we decided to close the position” followed by actually closing the listing. If nothing else, the novelty is nice.

@tek @bitprophet Zellij highlights some of the paradoxes in how my brain compartmentalizes information. I still find tmux easier, because everything I need to remember about tmux is locked behind C-b. Unless & until I do some rebinding in Zellij, everything overlaps what I need to remember for the terminal, the application inside the pane, the terminal emulator, and the window manager.

@billseitz @vkc I would’ve killed for decent OCR in 1984.

I see this sentiment all over #Tucson since we moved. This morning I learned it’s a whole project.

Anyways, I appreciate that they specified “kind” and not “nice.”

@tek @bitprophet I’ll say for sure: when I’m using terminal as secondary view — next to a GUI editor for example — Zellij absolutely rocks for core CLI tasks like file lists, process management, tailing log files, stuff like that.

It’s only when I’m in all-terminal mode that it bumps into muscle memory and that compartmentalization issue.

“We’ll find a way to make it work — or — we’ll all die!”

Talking about AI in music, but accidentally hit a core motif of INXS there I think.

(Mind you the INXS context was interpersonal relationships, not technology or world politics so much)

@bitprophet @tek Biggest bonus for Zellij is for new users (and noncommittal old hands). Instead of learning about the prefix, bindings, and servers, they have a labeled pane with a labeled always-on menu the second they start up. The threshold to get useful is near zero.

Think (very roughly) “if nano made a terminal multiplexer.”

@lilithsaintcrow this link disproves the existence of any god with merciful judgment

@lilithsaintcrow this rendition is making my cat meow a very concerned sequence of meows.

hackers.town: 2024-06-11 Tue 17:52

@lilithsaintcrow the song has ended and with it so has his concern. Now there is only judgment.

A black and white cat stares at you in very mild concern from his perch on a nearby computer desk.

@lilithsaintcrow yeah I think I nailed it better in the alt text
