Good lord I need to tune the notifications that go to my Apple Watch.
The base experience is nice, other than battery life.
But jeez with the watch telling me about every SMS and Slack notification I keep getting derailed. I’ve kept my phone in silent mode for over a decade and face down during work hours for a reason.

Realizing that the paradoxical good news is that I’m noticing distractions because my brain’s properly engaging on work stuff, and getting cranky about unexpected stimulus (as opposed to expected ones like stuff in this side of the monitor and messages from favorite people of whom honestly there’s one so it’s not like there’s a flood of that)

I’ve had it in Konsole, GNOME Terminal, Alacritty, xterm, rxvt, and I think kitty.
My typing gets clumsy sometimes.

@b0rk curoius if it’s something specific to following specific terminal emulation guidelines. Terminal.app and iTerm2 are macOS, and kitty (were these tests on macOS, Linux, or other?) has a habit of decisions that sound a lot like “ok but the rules are stupid so no we won’t do that.”
Oh and I don’t think I’ve seen it in Windows Terminal, and I know I’ve hit it clumsy enough to bounce off my current tab, so it’s not that my typing’s any better.

@jack a couple years in and I’ve worked many of those impulses out.
Proximity can provide a subtly different contextual meaning than links, and both are useful.
Directional links all through get overwhelming. so I rarely use them now.
Links are arbitrary colors by default in Kinopio, but you can narrow the options and define a meaning for them. I do that.
There’s more logical grouping one can do, like labeled groups. I’ll probably incorporate those here as things gel.

@jack and the numb is a genuine issue. Concept maps are great for the person or group who created them, and get progressively less useful the farther you get from the author(s).

@jack Brains are indeed wild! So most of the time my notes involve an outliner like Logseq. When I’m in more of a prose mode, Markdown or a rich text format like what SiYuan provides will do the trick. And sometimes none of that will do and I need to just dump small thoughts on a board and understand them by arranging them.

@jack Incidentally that anxiety about messing it up is why I use Kinopio rather than one of the more structured whiteboard concept map tools like Heptabase or Miro. You can make something real nice and organized in those. Which means you can really get it wrong.
Since the intentional limits of Kinopio mean you can never get it just-so, I can relax and not worry about screwing it up. Not worry as much anyways.
