In court filing, Google concedes the open web is in “rapid decline” - Ars Technica

The “open web” that Google cares about is just sites that bring them ad revenue. I don’t care about those. This is interesting though:

Google representatives have repeatedly trotted out the claim that Google’s crawlers have seen a 45 percent increase in indexable content since 2023. […] We don’t know what kind of content is in this 45 percent, but given the timeframe cited, AI slop is a safe bet.

I think the number of good sites is about the same. Old ones go away, new ones come up. The challenge is the amount of garbage—frequently model-generated—you have to dig through to find them.

Save those links, but also use hand-curated resources like RSS subscriptions to keep track of the Web you care about.

Out walking the dogs. Bouncy Dog starts barking at a toddler. The toddler starts barking back at Bouncy Dog.

I like that kid.

Had Logseq open to grab a couple note pages for the Obsidian version of my public brain. Goofed around a bit and oh no I found an interesting plugin:

GitHub - YU000jp/logseq-plugin-show-weekday-and-week-number: Make your Logseq journals smarter with weekdays, week numbers, and powerful calendar features!

Logseq daily journal, showing monthly calendar in sidebar, weekly calendar in banner space, and weekday plus week of year for each journal entry. There’s also a linked reference from the weekly journal for the current week
